The First Joint Meeting of the EAP Task Force and the Project Preparation Committee (PPC) took place in Paris on 6-7 October, 2003. The two bodies were meeting jointly following a decision to this effect at the Kiev "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference. Following Kiev, the EECCA Environment Strategy now provides the framework for the work of the EAP Task Force; the Central and Eastern sub-programme of work would be terminated by 2004, though the PPC would continue to work in south-eastern Europe. Representatives from 30 countries and the European Commission were present, as well as representatives from International Organisations, and partners from Non-Governmental Organisations and the Regional Environmental Centres.
