Networking Seminar Sigma -- Paris 26-27 November 2008

Information on the 3rd SIGMA Networking Seminar (Paris, 4-5 March 2010) will be posted shortly.

--

The 1st Sigma Networking Seminar, which took place in October 2007, showed that there is great interest in a forum to discuss issues related to Public Administrative reform in the context of the enlargement and stabilisation strategy. The most recent strategy paper stresses the need to maintain the quality of the enlargement process and to focus on good governance at the very early stages of structural enlargement support.

The purpose of this 2nd seminar is therefore to explore the challenges of creating reliable public administration in a European integration perspective for IPA beneficiaries. This will be done through the development of understanding amongst Commission and IPA beneficiaries of how European assistance can help to further strengthen the public administration. For the reform process to be successful, it is essential that public actors take the lead and make sustained efforts. This can be facilitated through an active dialogue and a solid network of public sector peers, which this seminar seeks to provide for.

Following are expert contributions presented at this seminar.

  • Ciresica Butiu
  • Ritva Heikkinen
  • Constantino Longares Barrio
  • Olivier Moreau
  • Sigma Financial Control Advisors
  • Sigma Public Procurement Advisors
  • European Commission
