Joint High-Level Meeting of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the OECD Environment Policy Committee (EPOC)

28-29 May 2009, Paris

The Joint High-Level Meeting of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the Environment Policy Committee (EPOC) will provide an opportunity to take stock and build upon the progress achieved since the DAC and EPOC met at ministerial level in April 2006. Decision makers will discuss urgent issues at the interface of environment and development co-operation and further deepen the strategic alliance between the Environment and Development Co-operation communities.

 

Meeting of the Environment Policy Committee at Ministerial Level

OECD Environment Ministers met to discuss the environmental trends and projections in the OECD Environmental Outlook to 2030, environmental co-operation between OECD countries and emerging economies, challenges (competitiveness concerns) and opportunities (eco-innovation) associated with policies to address climate change, and the enhancement of government-wide co-operation to address climate change.

OECD Development and Environment Ministries and Agencies joined forces to launch a process to work in partnership with developing countries to integrate environmental factors efficiently into national development policies and poverty reduction strategies.

 

Meeting of Environment Ministers: OECD Environment Strategy: 2004 Review of Progress
20-21 April 2004, Paris
The meeting of OECD Environment Ministers and partners was a timely opportunity to take stock of implementation of the OECD Environmental Strategy, to share experiences with the design of efficient and effective environmental policies and how to overcome some of the challenges to better policy integration and subsidy reform, and to highlight the role of partnerships in a globalizing world. Ministers adopted a Statement outlining priorities for Further Work at the OECD on Sustainable Development, and endorsed 3 OECD Council Acts to support environmental policy design and monitoring.

 

Meeting of EPOC at Ministerial Level
16 May 2001, Paris
When they met on 16 May 2001, OECD Environment Ministers adopted an ambitious OECD Environmental Strategy for the First Decade of the 21st Century. The OECD Environmental Strategy aims to provide clear directions for environmentally sustainable policies in OECD member countries, and guides the work of the OECD in the field of environment.
