OECD’s Global Forum transfers meeting to Mexico City

31/08/2009 - The meeting of the OECD’s Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information which was to have taken place in Los Cabos, Mexico, on 1-2 September has been transferred to Mexico City because of the threat of severe damage posed by Hurricane Jimena.

On the basis of latest information indicating that Hurricane Jimena is now likely to make landfall on the southern part of the peninsula of Baja California on Wednesday, Mexico’s national authorities are advising to take all possible precautions and have issued a hurricane warning for the area.

In light of this and in co-ordination with the Mexican authorities, the OECD has decided to move the meeting to Mexico City. It will take place as planned on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, finishing as foreseen at 1.15 p.m. Hotel and conference facilities have been booked at the Fiesta Americana Reforma Hotel in Mexico City (address: Reforma 80, Col Juarez 06600 Mexico, D.F., tel. +52 55 51 40 41 00).

A news conference will be held at the end of the meeting, at 1.30 p.m. local time on Wednesday 2 September at the Fiesta Americana Reforma Hotel. To confirm their attendance at the press conference, or to obtain further information, journalists are invited to contact carolina.ziehl@oecd.org, tel +52 55 1812 9518.
