OECD’s 2007 Education at a Glance to be published on Tuesday 18 September

11/09/2007 - The 2007 edition of the OECD’s annual Education at a Glance, a compendium of comparable national statistics that provide a basis for policy debate and decisions, will be published at 11.00 a.m. Paris time on Tuesday 18 September 2007.

Education at a Glance 2007 analyses the impact on labour market returns of the massive expansion of education in OECD countries, particularly at the tertiary level. It looks at whether the increasing supply of well-educated labour has been matched by the creation of an equivalent number of high-paying jobs.

Budapest - Tuesday 18 September at 12.00 p.m. local time - news conference with Michael Davidson of the OECD's Education Directorate (Ministry of Education and Culture: 10-14 Szalay utca, H-1055 Budapest).

 

Tokyo - Tuesday 18 September at 3.00 p.m. local time - videoconference media briefing by the main author of the report, Andreas Schleicher, Head of the OECD's Educational Statistics and Analysis Division. (OECD Tokyo Centre, 3rd floor, Nippon Press Centre Building, 2-2-1 Uchisaiwaicho, Chiyoda-ku, Yokyo 100-0011). Interpretation in Japanese will be provided.

The 2007 edition of Education at a Glance will be available to journalists on the OECD’s password-protected website from 11.00 a.m. Paris time on Tuesday 18 September 2007. A special website will be available shortly at www.oecd.org/edu/eag2007.
