Bernard Hugonnier is Deputy-Director of the Directorate for Education in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The Directorate’s mission is to assist Members and Partners in achieving high quality lifelong learning for all that contributes to personal development, sustainable economic growth and social cohesion.

Prior to his present position, Bernard Hugonnier was Head of the Territorial Development service at the OECD (1999 to 2002).  Bernard Hugonnier joined the OECD in 1978 and held since the following functions: Administrator in the Directorate for Financial, Fiscal and Enterprises Affairs (1978-1985) where he dealt with liberalization of capitals movements and invisible transactions as well as international investment and multinational enterprises; Head of the Management Unit, Executive Directorate (85-89); Head of the Publications Service (90-96); and Deputy-Director, Public Affairs and Communication Directorate (97-98). Prior to joining the OECD, Bernard Hugonnier was a consultant in economics and was teaching international economics at the University Paris-Dauphine.

Bernard Hugonnier holds an M.A in  economics from the University of Pittsburgh (USA) and a PhD. in economics from the University of Paris-Dauphine. He published several articles and three books.

Bernard Hugonnier is married and has four children.
