Official visit of the Secretary-General to Estonia (Tallinn, 11 - 12 February 2008)

During his official visit to Estonia, Secretary-General Angel Gurría met with:

  • Mr. Urmas Paet, Minister of Foreign Affairs

  • Ms. Ene Ergma, President of the Parliament
  • Mr. Urmas Klaas, Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee
  • Mr. Mart Laanemäe, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affais, head of the accession delegation
  • Professor Peep Sürje, Rector of Tallin University of Technology
  • Mr. Andres Lipstok, President of the Bank of Estonia

The main themes of the discussions were Estonia as a candidate country for accession to the OECD, and the Estonian economic situation and challenges ahead. In addition to these bilateral meetings, Mr Gurría held a joint press conference with the Prime Minister. He also gave a public lecture at the Tallinn University of Technology.
