Meeting Themes and Context
Themes
During the past decade, e-government has become a cross-cutting transformational issue. ICT helps governments deliver on their promises.
After 10 years of e-government efforts, governments must now look at their achievements – and identify and focus on new challenges and opportunities for the medium- and long-term future. The OECD country reviews have identified useful information on critical success factors for e-government, as it has been planned and implemented in the past. New challenges lie ahead, as e-government will have a different role on political agendas of reform.
Context
The 2008 E-Leaders Conference revives the OECD’s meetings programme for the highest-level e-government policy makers, and will be the first in a series of annual meetings. Day 1 is an open joint meeting of the high-level representatives of the OECD Network of Senior E-Government Officials, observer countries, and other non-member countries including MENA countries. The main theme will be: how does e-government support innovative public sector service delivery and transformation in 2020? Day 2 is an official meeting of the OECD Network of Senior E-Government Officials focusing on ongoing OECD business, including the programme of work for 2008-2009.
