The Latin American Corporate Governance Roundtable and Companies Circle

The Latin American Corporate Governance Roundtable was established April 2000. Participants to the Roundtable come from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and Venezuela.

 

 The objectives are to facilitate public and private sector policy-dialogue

  • by providing a forum for the exchange of experiences between senior policy-makers, regulators and market participants with first hand experience of present developments and ongoing work
  • by providing Policy and practical input to the Roundtable's work and to promote good corporate governance practivces at the company level, through the Companies Circle group.

 

Outcomes

  • Case Studies of Good Corporate Governance Practices:
    The Latin American Roundtable Companies Circle 2nd Edition, "featuring the experience of 13 leading Latin American companies, was launched on the occasion of the 4th meeting of the Latin American Roundtable Companies Circle, held on 22 November 2006 in São Paulo, Brazil.

10-11 October 2007, 8th annual meeting in Medellin, Colombia

The Latin American roundtable on Corporate Governance agreed to develop recommendations to encourage institutional investors to play a more engaged and informed role in promoting better corporate governance in the region.

1 March, 2007, Bovespa's Novo Mercado ceremony 

The OECD and the Latin American Roundtable on Corporate Governance were recognized as being among the five main institutional supporters. Bovespa was celebrating the 100th company to join the special corporate governance listing segments of the trading board. OECD has been providing advice and support since the first Latin American Roundtable on Corporate Governance was held in Brazil in April 2000, the same year the Novo Mercado was launched.
