11/03/2008 - A joint OECD/International Monetary Fund conference on the reforms needed to boost jobs and productivity in Europe will be held on Monday 17 March 2008.
A news briefing by Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of OECD, and Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will take place at 11.30 a.m. at the conference venue, OECD headquarters, 2 rue André Pascal, Paris 75016.
Throughout the day politicians, economists, trades unionists and business leaders will tackle such issues as why some reforms succeed and others fail, look at where reforms are most needed and discuss how they can be implemented effectively? All conference sessions are open to the media.
Among other participants will be European Union Commissioner Joaquín Almunia, Sweden's Employment Minister Sven Otto Littorin, former EU Commissioner Frits Bolkestein, and two former prime ministers: Mikuláš Dzurinda of the Slovak Republic and Poul Nyrup Rasmussen of Denmark.
