International Policy and Research conference on School Bullying and Violence - 5 to 8 September 2004

An International Policy Conference on "School Bullying and Violence", took place in Stavanger, on 5-8 September 2004. It was organised jointly by the OECD, the Norwegian Ministry of Education, the Norwegian Board of Education and Stavanger University College.
This conference had three main objectives:

  1. to identify the factors that cause school bullying and violence and document their consequences;
  2. to review policies designed to combat these problems and evaluate their effectiveness;
  3. to foster the creation of a network of researchers and centres of expertise with a policy focus on school bullying and violence.
