Mr. Max von Bonsdorff has a Masters in Political Sciences with a major in Economics. Mr von Bonsdorff has been at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Finland since 2004 and is presently working as an economic adviser in the Department for Development Policy. Prior to this his background was in Finnish development NGOs. The main focus of Mr von Bonsdorff’s work in the MFA Finland is trade and development as well as issues related to Aid Effectiveness. In the trade field the major recent focus for him has been the Aid for Trade initiative. The theme of Trade and Development, and Aid for Trade in particular, is a major priority-issue for the ongoing Finnish EU presidency. Relating to aid effectiveness, von Bonsdorff’s work is presently focused on budget support, particularly in the context of Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia and Nicaragua.
