Official visit of the Secretary-General to Hungary (15 - 16 November 2007)

During his official visit to Hungary, Secretary-General Angel Gurría met with:

  • Members of the Hungarian Parliament

 

On the occasion of his bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister, Angel Gurría discussed ways to increase co-operation with Hungary to support its reform efforts.

He also held an international press conference with the Prime Minister in the Parliament and gave a lecture at the GKI International Conference (economic research institute) about the reform agenda and the medium-term economic perspective.

Financial crisis: Save our savings

Amid the worst current financial crisis since the 1930s, EU leaders have pledged to protect savers’ deposits. Already most OECD countries have explicit deposit insurance schemes for savings up to certain limits. In a number of countries these have now been raised temporarily.
