IAIS-OECD Questionnaire on the Corporate Governance of Insurers

Deadline for response: 31 October 2008

The Technical Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and the Insurance and Private Pensions Committee (IPPC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have agreed to issue a joint questionnaire on the corporate governance of insurers.

The purpose of the questionnaire is to obtain information on current practices in the corporate governance of insurers and views on what might constitute good practices.  The responses to the questionnaire will be synthesised in a summary report and provide the basis for the elaboration of an expected joint IAIS-OECD Issues Paper that will explore issues related to the governance of insurers.

This questionnaire is addressed to supervisors, governments (non-supervisory), insurers, trade associations, and other parties. Trade associations are invited to make their members aware of the questionnaire and to encourage a representative sample of their members to respond to the questionnaire.

There is one questionnaire for insurers and a separate questionnaire for all other respondents, such as supervisors, governments (non-supervisory), trade associations, and other parties. The questionnaire is available in English, French and Spanish (please see below). Replies may be made in any of these languages.

The IAIS Subcommittee on Governance and Compliance and the ad hoc IPPC Task Force on Corporate Governance would like to thank respondents in advance for their time and participation.
