Managing university libraries, 26 and 27 August 2002, Paris, France

Universities face an expanding range of challenges and opportunities as all are being asked to do more for less. Libraries are no exception. These changes are associated with demands for excellence in research while continuing support is provided for mass education and non-traditional means of delivery are developed. Furthermore, libraries increasingly serve the wider community as well as internal users. As a consequence, libraries are developing new roles in support of the mission of their parent institutions.
