1. Preparing for the 5th WTO Ministerial in Cancún
Discussion on current developments in Geneva
Members and Observers are invited to express their views on the current state of play of DDA negotiations in Geneva and on the preparation of the 5th WTO Ministerial Meeting in Cancún. As a background to the discussion, the Dutch Delegation will present a recent study on economic benefits of the Doha Round.
Discussion on Trade Policy Message to OECD Ministerial Meeting from the Chairman of the Trade Committee
The Chairman has prepared a short draft text. Delegates and Observers are invited to offer their views for the preparation of this message, which would follow the recent practice of taking the form of a Message from the Chairman, and to give guidance on a number of key questions, arising from the Message, which could be a focus for ministerial discussion and preparation of the 5th WTO Ministerial meeting in Cancún.
2. Work in progress
The Secretariat will update Delegates on developments in ongoing work. The Chairman of the Working Party of the Trade Committee and the Secretariat are at the Trade Committee's disposal to answer any questions that Delegates may wish to raise.
3. Informal consultation with BIAC
The exchange of views at this informal consultation with members of BIAC will focus on topics directly related to the Doha Development Agenda. A background paper by BIAC on "BIAC Priorities for the WTO Doha Negotiations and Recommendations to the OECD" will be circulated as a room document in advance of the meeting. Other topics of current interest may also be raised.
4. Recent important developments in trade and trade policy
As at each Trade Committee meeting, Delegates are invited to share information and discuss recent developments in policies or practices that may significantly affect trade relations or the functioning of the multilateral trading system.
