OECD - FSI (BIS) Regional Seminar on Corporate Governance for Banks in Asia

On 19 and 20 June 2006, the OECD and the Financial Stability institute (FSI)Bank for International Settlements (BIS) jointly organised a regional seminar on corporate governance for banks in Asia. 

Representatives from banking supervisory bodies in Asia as well as international organisations attended the seminar to discuss challenges regarding corporate governance of banks in Asia.

The seminar addressed some important guidance such as:

Furthermore, the seminar discussed several specific CG related topics of particular importance to Asian banks including:

  • controlling related party transactions,
  • compliance function,
  • role of auditing, and
  • corporate governance of state-owned commercial banks.
