Warning: To be able to use correctly all functionalities of the data cubes, users working under Windows XP should add the Development Gateway in the list of “Trusted sites” in their Internet Explorer browser. To do so, under Internet Explorer, choose “Tools” in the menu, then “Internet options”, then “Security”, then “Trusted sites”. Click on “Sites” and add http://old.developmentgateway.org (*) in the list of Trusted sites. Once this is done, this web site will remain in the trusted sites recognized by the computer on which you have done this operation.
These "data cubes" show the value and number of records by year (2001 to 2005), recipient (grouped by region and by income group), funding country/agency, implementing country/agency, and category of trade-related technical assistance and capacity building activities of over 40 bilateral and multilateral donor agencies.
The reporting categories can be dragged into the rows and columns for differing analyses, and the rows and columns can be interchanged with a right mouse click. Clicking on a '+' will expand the data element to show its components, e.g. + Africa, North of Sahara expands into the 5 countries in the sub-region.
Activities used to build the aggregates shown in the cubes can easily be exported to a spreadsheet format. Within the cubes, once the data you wish to export are displayed, right-click on the mouse and choose “Drill through to details” to open an html window or on “Export details to spreadsheet” to open/save in a spreadsheet (i.e. MS Excel). The result will contain the list of activities that were used to build the aggregates displayed in the cube, with all relevant details (funding country/agency, implementing country/agency, recipient country, amount in US$ thousands (current or constant), type of flow, TCB category, commitment year, project title and description).
Pie and bar charts can easily be built using the appropriate icons in the menu.
Custom views can be saved during an open session (will be lost when the cube is closed).
