The OECD Statistics Dissemination Project

We want to make our statistics easier to find, by more people, and to improve the services we offer. The Statistics Dissemination Project will create three new services:

·           OECD Statistics provides a single online platform which enables you to search for and extract data from across OECD’s many databases for the first time.

·           OECD Core Data service allows you to quickly find and download our most frequently requested tables.

·           OECD Facts and Figures service combines commentary with graphic visualization tools to highlight a story which is conveyed by the data.

Unique Features

·          A searchable index - of over 285 data sets.

·          A citation tool – to enable you to cite accurately and cut/paste into commonly used tools, such as EndNotes and RefWorks.

·          Selective download – the ability to choose variables of interest and download the data directly to your PC for analysis using any database, spreadsheet or statistical package.

·          Context and comprehension – the ability to drill down into the detailed statistical metadata.

·          Alerts – to notify you of database updates.

·          Links between data and analytical material – the ability to discover and navigate seamlessly between analytical outputs and related statistics.

·          Explore data - by theme or by subject and use keyword searches to find relevant datasets.

·         Single platform – having all of the data in one place will offer new opportunities for improving data comparability.

Phase 1

OECD.Stat is now available in SourceOECD.  OECD.Stat enables users to search for and extract data from across OECD’s many databases.

·      OECD.Stat - beta version   (complete databases)

OECD.Stat is available on the Statistics Portal.

·      OECD Statistics - (OECD.Stat Extracts - beta version contains selected datasets and data ‘cubes’ extracted from OECD’s databases)

We are also providing direct access via our ilibrary, SourceOECD, to the most recent and complete online data for two databases in our data warehouse.

·      OECD Gender, Institutions and Development Statistics - beta release

·      OECD Social Expenditure Statistics - beta release

While we are working on improving our services, all of our complete online databases will continue to be available via our e-library, www.SourceOECD.org

Forthcoming

Our goal is to offer a full service by third quarter 2008 when nearly all OECD databases will be available via this interface. Over the coming twelve months we will be launching a number of major improvements to our online services covering both our statistical and analytical publications. This website will be regularly updated with the latest developments on the project.
