| 2 Days-2 Countries: International Workshop on Migration |
The Policy Coherence group presented its flagship publication on “Migration and Developing Countries” in a 2-day/2-country workshop at the Colegio de la Frontera Norte (Tijuana/Mexico) and the University of California (San Diego/USA). The impact of international labour mobility on economic progress is particularly relevant in the US/Mexican context. Close to 12 million Mexicans currently live in the United States, representing more than 10% of the Mexican population.

| Household Structures and Savings |
Does polygamy matter for savings? Do family ties make it easier or harder to invest? This paper uses data from China, Indonesia, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana to study how cultural practices (polygamy, extended families, child fostering) change the geometry of households and their incentives to save and invest.
