Workshop on the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness: Implications and Implementation

On 27-29 March 2006 a workshop on the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness: Implications and Implementation took place in Bamako, Mali. This workshop, the second in a series of regional workshops, brought together representatives from Central, North and West African countries and their partner donor institutions. Specific objectives of the workshop included the following:

  • to facilitate open discussion and exchange of views and experiences among partner countries and donors on aid effectiveness issues;
  • to take a closer look at the Paris commitments, focusing particularly on their application to country and country-level donor institutions, policies, procedures, and systems;
  • to provide an opportunity for participants to identify practical actions that can be taken with respect to implementing harmonization, alignment and managing for results; 
  • to assist participants in understanding the international monitoring process of the Paris commitments and implications for the country monitoring process; and
  • to promote  cross-country sharing and encourage a community of practice to continually exchange experiences.

The first workshop in this series of regional workshops was held in Entebbe, Uganda on 16-17 November 2005.
