Seventh Workshop of the APEC-OECD Co-operative Initiative on Regulatory Reform, Bangkok, Thailand, 1 November 2004

Seventh workshop hosted by the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

The APEC-OECD Co-operative Initiative on Regulatory Reform provides a forum for multidisciplinary policy discussion to deepen understanding of regulatory reform as a vector for stimulating economic productivity and growth.

During the Seventh workshop, disucssions focused on exchanging information on competition policy, good regulatory practices and concepts that contribute to understanding the necessary elements for the Checklist, a tool designed for self-assessment on regulatory, competition and market openness policies, and for benchmarking on a voluntary basis progress in effective implementation of the APEC and OECD principles. Discussions built on the agreements reached during the APEC-OECD Workshop in May 2004 in Pucón, Chile to seek agreement on a common presentation and communication vehicle for the Integrated Checklist. This conference also discussed the follow up and implementation mechanisms to be launched in the next phase of the Co-operative Initiative.
