Department background

Established by the International Monetary Fund's Executive Board in July 2001, the Independent Evaluation Office provides objective and independent evaluation on issues of relevance to the mandate of the IMF. The Office operates independently of IMF management and at arm's length from the IMF's Executive Board. It seeks to enhance the learning culture of the Fund, promote understanding of the Fund's work, and support the IMF's Executive Board in its governance and oversight.
