NSF/OECD Workshop
“Social and Economic Factors Shaping the Future of the Internet”,
Washington D.C., 31 January 2007

The NSF/OECD Workshop brought together a group of experts, economists, policy-makers, social scientists and technologists, to consider factors relating to the future of the Internet, such as how can we ensure that conditions are in place for continued Internet-driven innovation [And many more].


OECD Ministerial Meeting on policy issues related to the future of the Internet
Seoul, Korea, 17-18 June 2008

The ICCP Committee is planning a Ministerial meeting on the future of the Internet, to be held in Korea in June 2008. The “future Internet”, and the systems it connects, must be capable of efficiently underpinning the information societies’ and digital economies’ need for social and economic development. UNCTAD Expert Meeting: Using ICTs to Achieve Growth and Development
jointly organized by UNCTAD, OECD and ILO on 4-5 December 2006 in Geneva

The Expert Meeting provided a forum for exploring the impact of ICTs on economic performance in developing countries. A central message was that promoting ICT investment, production and diffusion only pays off when ICTs are used in truly innovative ways and in an effective manner. Examples from developing countries showed that new technologies have a larger impact on productivity and growth when ICT policies address the large majority of the population and try to overcome existing socio-economic divides.


Mobile commerce and mobile multiple play: policy challenges

Developments in mobile handset technology and use of mobile devices have brought about advanced mobile multiple play services (voice, data and video), raising regulatory and communications policy issues, and have made the mobile commerce market more consumer-oriented, global in scope and device-dependent, raising consumer protection policy issues.
