In response to the Committee's mandate calling for "examination of the overall situation of fisheries in Member countries and of the prospects....." the Committee, on an on-going basis, surveys developments in the fisheries sector policies of Member countries.
Published as the Review of Fisheries, Member countries report on regulatory initiatives covering a wide range of aspects including management, financial transfers, bilateral fisheries agreements, trade, aquaculture and production in general. The publication is a unique compilation of information on a variety of aspects concerning fisheries and fish farming in OECD Member countries.
The Committee has in addition carried out a general overview and policy assessment entitled "General Survey", that is also contained in the Review of Fisheries publication. This survey seeks to provide a general overview of fisheries policy developments across the OECD. Furthermore, the General Survey seeks to assess policy impacts on fisheries resources and markets.
The Review of Fisheries is published with a statistical annex giving key statistics on Member countries' landings, trade, quota allocations, financial transfers, etc.
Since 1999, the Review is published in full only every two years. Statistics are collected and disseminated every year, however, with a view to maintaining consistency in the time series.
