The OECD is working with the Inter American Development Bank to establish a Global Project regional group in Latin America.  A stream of research work and activities are being prepared. 

 

 

Past Events

 

 

First National Conference of FIB (Felicidade Interna Bruta) - Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) ou Felicidade Interna Bruta (FIB)? conference was held on the 29 and 31 October and on the 1st and 2nd November 2008 in Brazil.

 

Monitoring the Quality of life in Latin America: the urban dimension a conference was held in Paris, France on the 26th of September 2008. This joint OECD and Inter-American Development Bank  (IADB) seminar analysing the resuls of a research project assessing efforts to improve the quality of life in Latin America's rapidly growing cities.

 

In order to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the institutions mentioned below have united our best efforts to organize the International Meeting “Social Cohesion and Social Well-Being: Inclusion and Dialogue from a Human Rights Perspective ”, which took place in Quito (Ecuador) on April 28 -29, 2008. The Meeting gathered together top scholars from the Americas and Europe, and its objective is to contribute to the academic / political dialogue on social cohesion and social well-being, and will be the first in its kind to include a perspective on human rights.

Memorandum of Understanding

 

In 2007 the first Memorandum of Understanding with a regional partner has been signed - between the Inter American Development Bank with the OECD - with the signatories pledging to work together to promote the Global Project in the Latin American region.

Initiatives related to Measuring Progress of Societies

 

  • Latinobarómetro 2009: "Democracy is strengthened in times of crisis. The perception of progress increases despite the coup in Honduras, the virus AH1N1 and economic crisis. Latin America values more their institutions, their presidents, the market and is more satisfied with their democracy. Democracy is more mature?". Read the whole PDF document (spanish version)
