Next Steps

Publication and dissemination of policy reports:

  • Translation of national reports on "Education Policies for Students at Risk and those with Disabilities in South Eastern Europe" into languages of the region. They will be published in late-2006.
  • Dissemination of results of country reports on a local level in order to raise awareness for inclusive education in the national context.

 

Teacher training activities:

  • Continuation of in-service teacher training. A follow-up seminar in co-operation with the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture will take place in November 2006.
  • Continuation of local teacher training and model school activities.
  • Expansion of teacher self-support networks within and across countries.
  • Development of nationally based in-service teacher training materials by local teachers.


Statistics and data gathering:

  • Implementation of micro-projects in the field of statistics and data collection in 2006/07.
  • Provision of technical support to local teams of statisticians.

School development:

  • Evaluation of development work in the selected schools carried out locally and by the OECD.
  • Expansion of school development work to a greater number of schools.

Study visits:

  • Study visits to institutions of education for special needs with a special emphasis on issues of inclusive education – Austria, second half of 2006.

Education Building:

  • Participation of country representatives from South Eastern Europe in the "International Conference on Facilities for Students with Special Education Needs" to be held in the second half of 2006. The conference will be organised within the framework of the OECD Programme on Educational Building (PEB).

Monitoring and lobbying:

  • Meeting of country project administrators back to back with other training activities in November 2006.
  • Development of individual country action plans based on national reports and shared experience convering policy, training issues and statistical data collection.
  • Co-operation with the Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe (ERI SEE) to increase the regional and local impact of the project.
  • Co-operation with Reginal Education Network of UNICEF in order to strengthen the sustainable development of the project.
  • Project evaluation to assess the systemic project impact on local, national and regional levels and to provide recommendations for future planning and reform toward inclusive education.
  • High-level meeting on SENDDD involving international organisations, donors, national ministries and other stakeholders to facilitate the development of inclusive education in South Eastern Europe.
