Seminar: Improving Governance for Sustainable Development

PUMA organised a seminar on Improving Governance for Sustainable Development on 22-23 November 2001. This event focussed on the main challenges and the concrete efforts to improve policy coherence and integration for sustainble development. Debates were supported by findings from case studies in five OECD Countries (Canada, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, United Kingdom). In particular, the seminar focused on practices to better monitor policy integration in a context characterised by difficult policy choices. The seminar also examined promising practices for citizens' involvement, and considered the main barriers to developing longer-term capacities in government.
