Financial education training course for families of child workers in Cambodia, International Labour Organization (ILO),

In an effort to combat child labor and promote gender equality in Cambodia, the ILO developed a financial education training course for families of child workers.The course targets primarily women, who are often responsible for managing money in the household. By training women on basic financial skills, ILO believes women will make better financial decisions for their families, reducing economic insecurity and indebtedness, two leading causes of child labor in Cambodia.
The 3-days training course adapts three GFEP (Global Financial Education Program) modules: Budgeting, Debt Management and Savings. The training highlights the role gender plays in financial decision-making in households. Key adaptations of the course include discussion questions focused on gender and financial responsibilities within the family. Since its inception, more than 2,000 parents of child workers (75% women) have attended the training.
