GfD Steering Group Chairs

The First meeting of the GfD Initiative's Steering Group, took place in Madrid on 27-28 April 2005. The meeting was hosted by the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Miguel Angel Moratinos. The Steering Group elected two chairs from Arab countries, H.E. Mr. Salaheddin Al-Bashir, at the time Jordanian Minister for Government Performance and Dr. Ahmed Darwish, Egyptian Minister of State for Administrative Development. Mr. Seiichiro Noburu, Japan’s Ambassador to the OECD was elected as co-chair. At the Second Steering Group Meeting at Ministerial Level  in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) on 19 and 20 May 2006, H.E. Ambassador Noboru transferred the OECD co-chairmanship to his successor Ms. Gun-Britt Andersson, Ambassador, at the time Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OECD. On the occasion of the Steering Group Meeting at Technical Level in Paris on 4 July 2008, H.E. Ambassador Chris Hoornaert, Permanent Representative of Belgium to the OECD took over the OECD co-chairmanship.
