International Seminar on the Development of Higher Education and Financing Policies, 12-13 July 2004, Beijing, China

In China, as in OECD Member countries, increased participation raises questions about financing and quality of higher education. It was therefore decided to undertake a review of these issues, using traditional OECD methods of work based on fact-finding missions and peer review mechanisms. This report will be presented at an international seminar co-organised by the OECD and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China in Beijing on 12 and 13 July. The seminar will include workshops on developing capacities to mobilise and use diverse sources of funding; quality evaluation in a diversified system; labour market and the development of higher education; and, the role of higher education in strategies for regional development.
