National Accounts for the Republic of Slovenia: Sources, Methods and Estimates

This document is the result of work undertaken jointly since 1991 between the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic and the OECD Centre for Co-operation with the Non-Members (CCNM, previously the Centre for Co-operation with the Economies in Transition), through the technical support of the OECD Statistics Directorate. The objective of the collaboration is to implement the methodology for estimating national income according to the international standards of the System of National Accounts, 1993 (1993 SNA).

Work to compile national accounts according to the SNA started in the second half of the 1980s and has been a major element in developing statistics suitable for a market economy. This publication describes how the process has developed over the past few years. Data sources are described in details so that users of the accounts may gain insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the resulting accounts and understand how major improvements to the national accounts in future are crucially on improvements in the basic underlying data.

Annual national accounts are regularly published by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia in the Statistical Yearbook and Rapid Reports. Main economic aggregate and the rest of the world accounts will be included in a future national accounts publication.
