Sweden: Ambassador, Permanent Representative to the OECD

Mr. Mats RINGBORG

Born on 26 November 1945, Mr. Ringborg holds a Masters in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics, which he received in 1969.

He entered the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1969. In 1971 he was posted to the Ministry of Industry and promoted to First Secretary. Then, from 1975 to 1977, Mr. Ringborg served as an Attaché at the Swedish Delegation to the OECD. In 1977, he returned to the Ministry of Industry as a Head of Section. From 1981 to 1984, he was Deputy Director-General, Head of Office for International Affairs at the Ministry.

In 1984, Mr. Ringborg was appointed Counsellor for Economic Affairs at the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C. He was subsequently promoted to Minister with responsibility for Economic Affairs. In 1989, he returned to Sweden where he was appointed Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1996 to 2002 he was Director-General for Trade Policy at the Ministry.

Prior to taking up his appointment as Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OECD and UNESCO, Mr. Ringborg was the Ambassador of Sweden to Norway.

Ambassador Mats Ringborg took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OECD on 11 April 2007.
