SIGMA's assessment reports are prepared annually for the European Commission as a contribution to its Progress Reports on EU candidate and potential candidate countries and to its programming of technical assistance. The assessments are also designed to provide assessed countries with inputs into their reform agendas.
SIGMA's assessments are conducted against baselines developed with the EC and cover 8 sectors: administrative legal framework, external audit, policy-making and co-ordination, public expenditure management, public integrity systems, public procurement, public internal financial control (PIFC), and public service. Each year the Commission prioritises the sectors to be assessed. All 43 assessment reports prepared in 2009 are available below.
