Martin Fronc - Minister of Education (Slovak Republic)

   

Mr. Fronc was born in 1947 in Košice, the Slovak Republic.

He graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Comenius University in Bratislava, his specialization was mathematics.

After graduation Mr. Fronc took up a position at the Department of Mathematical Methods at the University of Transport and Communications ( nowadays the University of Zilina ) in Zilina.

In  1979 Mr. Fronc  defended his thesis and  received his scientific degree PhD.

In 1984 Mr. Fronc was awarded an academic degree Assoc. Professor.

He has gained international experience from study stays at universities of Delft, Bordeaux and Sevilla.

He was elected to numerous academic  positions.

Mr. Fronc is an author of several educational articles and papers on theory of transport, quantitative methods, theory of graphs. He is the author of the monography "Quantitative Methods".

Mr. Fronc carried out research projects, he was a contractor of a TEMPUS international project.

He was not politically  active before  1989.

After November  1989 Mr. Fronc became politically active in the Christian Democratic Movement ( KDH ) and he gradually became a member of the KDH Presidium.

In 1998 he became a Member of Parliament of the Slovak Republic and at the proposal of the Government of the Slovak Republic he was appointed the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.

In 2002 (16th of October) he was appointed the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic

Mr. Fronc is married with three children ( one daughter and two sons ).

His hobbies are :  tourism,  history,  writing of stories ( the book :  ”The Strict Man and Other Stories” ).
