This announcement provides initial information on upcoming changes to the structure and content of the monthly Main Economic Indicators (MEI) paper publication. These changes will appear from the May 2009 publication and be fully implemented before the end of the year.

The monthly " Main Economic Indicators" (MEI) presents comparative statistics that provide an overview of recent international economic developments for OECD countries and selected non-member countries.

This indispensable and unique source of key short-term statistics is a vehicle for analysis for corporate planners, economists, academics, researchers and students. Using the most up-to-date, user-friendly graphical and tablular presentation, the indicators cover national accounts, business surveys and consumer opinions, leading indicators, retail sales, production, construction, prices, employment, unemployment, wages, finance, foreign trade and balance of payments.

Paper Publication
The short-term indicators in MEI paper publication are presented in three ways:

CD-Rom
The CD-Rom contains additional information not available in the paper publication, such as extra business survey and leading indicator series, considerably more detailed balance of payments data and longer time series for most of the indicators. The CD-Rom version is available in Beyond 20/20TM for WindowsTM, that allows the user to extract data and prepare customised tools for analysis such as graphs and tables.

How to obtain this publication

Readers can access the Main Economic Indicators choosing from the following options:
