Official visit of the Secretary-General to Indonesia (Jakarta, 24-26 July 2008)

During his first official visit to Indonesia, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría met with:

  • H.E. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of the Republic of Indonesia.
  • Ms. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Finance

  • H.E. Boediono, Governor of Bank Indonesia

  • Mr. Hassan Wirajuda, Minister of Foreign Affairs

  • Mr. Ali Alatas, President of The Supreme Advisory Council, (Dewan Pertimbangan Agung)

  • Senior officials from the Ministry of Trade

They discussed the country's economic situation and prospects, notably during a seminar devoted to the OECD Economic Assessment of Indonesia, and the OECD's enhanced engagement programme with Indonesia. This seminar was attended by about 170 participants from government institutions, embassies in Jakarta, academicians and researchers (read the Secretary-General speech in English / in Bahasa).

The Secretary-General also briefed the Embassies of OECD member countries present in Jakarta on the goals and achievements of his visit, at a meeting hosted by the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia.
