OECD Composite Leading Indicator decreases in June 2002: Decrease for France, Germany and Italy

02/08/2002 - The Composite Leading Indicator (CLI) for the OECD area decreased by 0.1 point in June 2002 to 116.6 from 116.7 in May. The six-month rate of change also decreased for the same period.

For the United States, the CLI increased by 0.3 point in June and its six-month rate of change increased. The CLI for the Euro area fell by 0.4 point in June and its six-month rate of change decreased. In May, the CLI for Japan was the same as the previous month and its six-month rate of change fell.

The CLI for the United Kingdom in June was the same as the previous month but its six-month rate of change decreased. The CLI for Canada rose by 0.4 point in June whereas its six-month rate of change fell for two consecutive months. Finally, the CLIs for France, Germany and Italy decreased in June, as did their six-month rates of change.
