OECD Global Forum in Paris 27-28 March to focus on investment for development

18/03/2008 - What can developing countries do to attract more and better investment? And how can the momentum of investment globalisation be maintained amid rising protectionism?

Such questions will be addressed at the 2007 annual conference of the OECD Global Forum on International Investment (GFI-7) at OECD headquarters in Paris on 27-28 March 2008. Organised in co-operation with UNCTAD, the theme of this year's Forum is "Best practices in promoting investment for development: pursuing a common agenda".

This event is open to the media.

OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría and UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi will open the event at 10.00 a.m. on Thursday 27 March.

Participants will include ministers in charge of investment, industry, energy and trade from Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Morocco, Peru, and Uganda. Policy makers, business leaders, academics and members of civil society from OECD and non-OECD countries will also attend.

The conference agenda, background reports and further details are available at http://www.oecd.org/investment/gfi-7

To register for the Forum, journalists are invited to contact the OECD Media Division (tel. + 33 1 45 24 97 00).
