Mr. Antoni Estevadeordal is Principal Advisor of the Integration and Regional Programs Department of the Inter-American Development Bank. He has expertise in integration, cooperation and trade policy issues in Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia-Pacific, EU and WTO. He has coordinated the IDB technical assistance to the FTAA process from 1995 to 2000 and the IDB research program on trade and integration since 2000. He coordinates several inter-institutional initiatives on trade and integration, in particular with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Union (EU) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Before joining the IDB he taught at the University of Barcelona and Harvard University. He has contributed as author in several books and published widely in major journals, most recently in American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of International Economics, Journal of Economic Integration, Economia and Journal of World Trade. He has co-edited several books, most recently: Integrating the Americas: FTAA and Beyond (with D. Rodrik, A. Taylor and A. Velasco; Harvard University Press, 2004); Regional Public Goods: From Theory to Practice (IDB and ADB, 2004); The Origin of Goods: Rules of Origin in Preferential Trade Agreements (Oxford University Press and CEPR, 2006) and The Emergence of China: Opportunities and Challenges for Latin America (Harvard University Press and IDB, 2006). He holds a PhD and MA in Economics from Harvard University and a BA in Economics from the University of Barcelona.
