Globally Competitive, Locally Engaged - Higher Education and Regions
International Conference, 19-21 September 2007, Valencia, Spain
This conference looked at ways in which higher education institutions could best contribute to region building in the knowledge-based economy. The keynote speeches, discussions and parallel work group sessions drew from the OECD review project entitled “Supporting the Contribution of Higher Education to Regional Development”, which embraced 14 regions in 12 countries, as well as the earlier work on the OECD territorial reviews.
The conference was organised by the OECD Programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education (IMHE) in co-operation with the OECD Public Governance and Territorial Directorate, the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, Valencia Regional Government, Universitat Politécnica de Valencia and Fundacíon CYD.
