The Active Learning Network on Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Assistance (ALNAP) Evaluative Reports Database offers access to the evaluative reports of humanitarian action in order to ensure experiences and learning are shared and to foster discussions on good practices.

Developed for professionals seeking to design, conduct, document, or review project evaluations, OERL's mission is to support the continuous improvement of project evaluations. To this end, OERL provides:

The Quality Compas is the result of an applied research project: the Quality Project, which was conducted by Groupe URD, in conjunction with NGO partners.
It is a quality assurance method that has been designed for humanitarian  interventions and is therefore fully adapted to the humanitarian context. Project management and evaluation are the two mainstrays of the Quality Compas. The overall objective of these two functions is to continously improve the quality of services provided to populations receiving aid, by means  of team learning improving practices.

Development results mean sustained improvement in the lives of people in developing countries: more educated children; fewer infants dying; more families lifted out of poverty. Managing for development results involves using information to make better decisions and steer development efforts toward clearly defined goals. Developing countries are focusing on results so they can make better policy decisions and design better strategies. Development agencies are focusing on results to ensure that their support makes a contribution to improving the lives of people in the developing countries. This web site provides information about how countries and agencies are working together in a global partnership on managing for development results.

Poverty Action Lab

The Poverty Action Lab serves as a focal point for development and poverty research based on randomized trials. The objective is to improve the effectiveness of poverty programs by providing policy makers with clear scientific results that help shape successful policies to combat poverty.

This page lists FREE resources for methods in evaluation and social research.  The focus is on "how-to" do evaluation research and the methods used: surveys, focus groups, sampling, interviews, and other methods.  Most of these links are to resources that can be read over the web.  A few, like the GAO books, are for books that can be sent away for, for free (if you live in the US), as well as read over the web.

This website offers you access to the six final reports from the 3Cs evaluation initiative and is a key electronic resource on coordination, complementarity and coherence for development.

The Tsunami Evaluation Coalition was constituted in February 2005. It is an informal grouping of donors, UN agencies, (I)NGOs and the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement. The Coalition’s purpose is twofold:

• To promote a sector-wide approach to evaluations of the tsunami response in order to optimise sector-wide learning.
• To develop, test and validate produces for the future timely establishment of such an evaluation coordination (coalition) mechanism that could facilitate such an approach.
