Dambisa Moyo participated in an OECD meeting on international development which called for a fundamental overhaul of the existing development assistance system. Suggesting a moratorium on development aid by 2050, the meeting noted that opening global trade and investment, reducing tariff barriers, and collecting taxes are the only sustainable options for African leaders to finance much needed jobs, healthcare, schools and infrastructure for their citizens.
