Workshop on migration in Central America

In preparation of the next 2010 Latin American Economic Outlook, which will focus on migration, Jeff Dayton-Johnson, Head of the Latin America and Caribbean Desk of the OECD Development Centre, will participate in a regional workshop on migration in Central America. The event is co-organised by the Development Centre Porverty Reduction and Social Development Unit and by the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) and will take place next 25 June in San José de Costa Rica. This workshop will gather both academia and policy-making experts and focuses on two major topics: the influence of migration on labour markets and the governance of migration.

On 26 June, Mr. Dayton Johnson will present the main results of the OECD Development Centre's Latin American Economic Outlook 2009 at the FLACSO offices in San José. His presentation will be followed by a round-table discussion with comments from Anabelle Ulate, Director of the Observatorio para el Desarrollo of the Universidad de Costa Rica, and Leiner Vargas, Researcher at the Centro Internacional de Política Económica para el Desarrollo Sostenible of the Universidad Nacional.
