Objectives

Work is specifically focused on the management of higher education with regard to education policy. It considers the management implications of policy and environmental changes such as changing student expectations, the trend toward lifelong learning for all, internationalisation, technological change, new approaches to funding and demands for quality assurance and accountability. IMHE promotes exchange of information and expertise in the management of higher education and to encourage new methods and approaches through the following activities:

  • research projects and studies to reach a better understanding from a global perspective of the challenges facing higher education management
  • training opportunities to disseminate new ideas in management practice and to develop working relationships among administrators and experts in the field
  • information exchanges to broaden the network of communication within the higher education community via seminars, conferences and publications.

The following proposals outline the current Programme of Work for the OECD Programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education (IMHE)
