Informal Experts’ Meeting : Trade Capacity Building Results Monitoring and Assessment Framework (16/06/2004)

At the recent joint DAC-WTO meeting on Trade Capacity Building held in Paris on 2-3 March 2004, participants suggested developing a “common framework” for results monitoring and assessment of trade capacity building efforts. Interested stakeholders met in Paris on the 16th of June 2004, in order to:

  1. Discuss - and agree on - the purpose, nature and timetable for eventual collaborative (OECD/DAC) work in the area of results monitoring/ impact assessment of donor-funded trade-related technical assistance and capacity building (TRTA/CB);
  2. Share experiences and preliminary lessons learnt in conducting TRTA/CB evaluations, focusing on the main (methodological) challenges faced.

The meeting included presentations of (ongoing/completed) TRTA/CB evaluations by the EC, the Netherlands, DFID, the World Bank and ITC. The outcomes of the meeting are described in the Summary Report (below).
