Biography

Michèle Girard has been the Librarian of the OECD Development Centre Library since 1980.

Her working background is entirely in the field of social sciences, in particular international relations beginning in 1970. She is responsible for the leadership and development of the Development Centre Library, with a particular emphasis on resource management and the direction of organisational change in exploring new technologies to bring information to our customers efficiently and enjoyably.

Her current work portfolio covers: resources and finance; collection development and international library liaison; technological innovation and development including e-resources. She is responsible for the development, and promotion of the Library’s intranet site. She occasionally gives conference presentations and advice on key information-related topics particularly concerning digital resources and intranet site creation. She graduated in Information sciences from the University of Nancy II (France) and she attended a vocational course at the University of Tilburg (Tilburg Innovation Centre for Electronic Resources, Netherlands) in 2006.
