A capacity training workshop attended by over 30 officials from the Jordanian Privatisation Commission (EPC) and other public sector agencies such as the Ministries of Economy and Finance working on privatisation and public-private partnership (PPP) projects was organised by the MENA-OECD Investment Programme at the request of the Commission. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Mohammad Abu Hammour, Chairman of the EPC and Dr. Rainer Geiger, Head of the MENA OECD Investment Programme. The objective of this workshop was to present the OECD and MENA practices and models on structuring PPP transactions, with an emphasis on legal, financial and risk management considerations. Case studies of transactions undertaken in Tunisia, Turkey and Sweden were presented and discussed by the participants and experts who debated the benefits of the various models of PPP and discussed the socio-economic challenges that are commonly encountered while implementing PPP projects as well as the mechanisms to avoid them.
