Annotation

This event is part of a series of workshops organised under the auspices of the OECD Committee on Industry, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. These workshops consider various dimensions of non-technological innovation including factors that influence the demand and take-up of innovation by firms, as well as provision of innovative products and services to markets. In this regard, the workshops cover some of the main channels employed by enterprises in accessing and commercialising knowledge and innovation (e.g. academic or government research, inter-business or other public-private partnerships, internal investment in research and development or user-driven innovation), the nature of incentives to develop and market new products, and the barriers and constraints that may impede this process.

The Trento workshop focussed on partnerships (public-private and private-private) for the development and diffusion of innovation. A specific focus was devoted to drawing lessons from territorial case studies, with a view to their general applicability for local innovation policies. The workshop considered, with a policy-oriented perspective, the interactions between innovation and social capital for local knowledge-based capacity development.
