Turkish PM Visits OECD: Report on Turkish Economy, News Conference on Thursday 21 October

13/10/2004 - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay an official visit to the OECD on Thursday 21 October 2004, coinciding with the publication of the OECD’s latest report on the Turkish economy. Journalists are invited to a briefing on the OECD report at 11.00 a.m. on 21 October and a news conference with Mr. Erdogan and OECD Secretary General Donald J. Johnston at 12.30 p.m.

The OECD report on Turkey will be officially released at 2.00 p.m. (12.00 GMT) on 21 October, and journalists are asked to observe an embargo on the briefing and news conference until that time. The Assessment and Recommendations of the report will be available on the OECD’s website from 2.00 p.m at www.oecd.org/eco/surveys/turkey. Journalists will be able to access the full text on the OECD’s password-protected website. Advance texts will be available to journalists under embargo.

The publication is divided into the following chapters:

  • Assessment and recommendations,
  • Achieving strong and sustainable growth,
  • Macroeconomic policies:  strengthening confidence and reducing risk premia,
  • Improving the quality and cost-efficiency of public expenditure,
  • Establishing an open and non-discriminatory business environment,
  • Sustainable development.
